Meeting Santa for the first time

Breakfast with Santa, December 5th was a lot of fun for Daniel. He was able to meet new friends, tell Santa what he wants for Christmas, and have breakfast with Mom and Dad.

Two front teeth

2 teeth have made a grand appearance just in time for the holidays. After a long night, Monday, November 23rd, Daniel's 2 bottom teeth appeared.

9 months old

Daniel's 9 month visit to the doctor was exciting. He is in the 50th percentile for height and head size. Daniel is a small kid like his parents were[You wouldn't guess that by looking at us now! :)]. He is in the 25th percentile for weight but is so healthy and active. He is growing so fast and has become quite the wiggle worm. He has officially decided that he hates powder formula so we have switched him to ready-to-feed. He definitely has a mind of his own. We have lowered the mattress b/c he is already pulling up to stand and trying to find out how to get out of the crib. The military crawl is in full force and he is all over the place. Watch out Jackie and Kennedy!

Happy Halloween!

This was Daniel's first Halloween and he had a blast. First it was a nice visit with family and then it was off through the neighborhood with his pal Brody for some tricks or treats.

Meeting my new friend Nolan

Congrats to Jason and Michelle Shaw on the birth of their baby boy and Daniel's new buddy. Can you believe that the legacy of Danny and Jason will continue?

First company lake party

Daniel had his first experience at the Sunrise company lake party in August. Here are a few pictures from the event. As you will see, my little man has a Microsoft Dynamics shirt on. He loves to support mom. :)

DaDa! DaDa!

Daniel said DaDa for the first time Wednesday, August 26th. His Daddy was so proud. Mommy was in disbelief. Danny caught the momentous occasion on camera b/c I just wouldn't believe it. Of course it happened while I was away. Here it is for the world to see; Daddy's boy!

Growth Milestone-6 months

Daniel had his 6 month checkup last week and he is growing up to be such a big boy. He eats fruit, vegetables, and cereal everyday. He loves sweet peas. This milestone is traditionally called "The Social Butterfly" milestone and that he is. Daniel smiles and talks (babbles) all day long. He is sitting up on his own for 3-5 minutes at a time but then he gets tired or reaches for something and that's over.

So the stats from the doctor last week were 26 1/4 inches long and 15 lbs. 12.6 oz.

Happy 1/2 Birthday Daniel!

Daniel celebrated his 6 month birthday with family last weekend. We had lots of fun and he was full of smiles. He managed to get a little bit of icing in his mouth before mommy intervened.

Daniel's First Beach Trip

We decided to take Daniel to the beach for the very first time and our first family vacation the last week of July. We went to Myrtle Beach, SC with our very dear friends and neighbors, the Priest family.

We had such a great time. Daniel was definitely the classic beach baby with his cool shades and hat. He wasn't a big fan of the ocean but he did great on the beach all day. He loves the pool so every afternoon after lunch we spent some time in the pool splashing around. Here are a few pics from the trip.

Fun Lunch Date with the girls and Nolan!

Last weekend Daniel and I were able to visit with some of my dear old friends/Kappa Delta sorority sisters from college and their kids over lunch in Charlotte. We had such a great time. It was so nice to see everyone and Daniel loved everyone.

Happy Fourth of July!

This weekend was an exciting one for the Kirkman Trio. We had our first vacation as a family. We decided to head to the Lake for the weekend. Daniel loved the water and had a blast riding in his "motor boat" as Dad calls it. Here are a few pics and a video from the weekend. Our little water baby is such a ham for the camera.

He is growing up so fast!

It has been a while since I have posted an update on Daniel. He is doing great and growing so fast. He is almost 5 months old and is changing everyday.

He eats oatmeal cereal twice a day.

He sits up in his Bumbo and plays with all of his toys.

He laughs out loud at everything (he is such a happy baby). He has started teething so we are dealing with that, but all in all, he is doing great. It is so amazing to us how he has already developed his own little personality.

Big Day for Baby Daniel

Yesterday was a big day for Daniel. We started out at 9 am with pictures at a portrait studio to celebrate being 2 months old. This is something that my mom and Godmother are doing every month for Daniel. We want to make sure that each month we get a picture of Daniel so that we can see how he changes.

Then after pictures at the portrait studio we went to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. Daniel took his 1st Easter Bunny with him and he told the Easter Bunny that he wanted lots of presents. :)

After visiting the Easter bunny, it was off to the dreaded doctor's visit where Daniel got his first set of vaccinations. He did great! He is now 10 lbs. 8.5 oz.(25 percentile) and 23 3/4 inches long (75 percentile). We are really excited how how he is growing and changing. He is really becoming a little man. He smiles all the time, loves to play in his bouncer, and when it's tummy time he it trying so hard to move his legs and push him self up. He is no longer interested in being held like a baby. :) Daniel wants to sit up and look at the world around him.

First Bottle

To prepare for my return to work and my travel plans in 2 weeks, we needed to see if Daniel would take a bottle. I left to go get dinner and Grandmama was in charge. Daniel wasn't sure about the bottle at first but once he knew what was in it, he did great!

Almost 5 weeks old

We are now approaching Daniel's 5th week in this world. We have had an exciting month. We have had many visitors and Daniel has enjoyed meeting everyone. He has started smiling, focusing on objects like his mobile, and he is reaching for things. Daniel had his 4 week checkup last week and he is 8 lbs. 3.5 oz. and 21.5 inches long. Here are some pictures and a video from the last few weeks.

Daniel's first stroll around the neighborhood

After the beautiful snow that we had a heat wave came through and gave Mommy and Daniel an opportunity to cruise around the neighborhood in Daniel's stroller. We loved being outside in the beautiful sunshine. Daniel and Mom were in need of some Vitamin D.

Daniel's first snow

Daniel and I enjoyed his first snow. We only spent about 30 seconds outside, just quick enough for a Daddy to take our photo, but it was beautiful.

He has arrived...

February 3, 2009 turned out to be the most important day of our lives; Baby Daniel arrived. We are so blessed to have such a precious baby boy. He weighed 7 lbs. 1.94 oz. and was 20.9 inches long. He had a head full of brown hair, a nose like his Dad, and a mouth like his mom (No, he isn't talking yet). We went to the hosital around 3:00 am and Daniel was born at 7:52 pm. Daniel had to spend a few hours in the NICU to make sure his blood sugar was ok,; I had gestational diabetes and had to be on insulin during labor. He got a great report from the NICU and was with Mom and Dad within 6 hours. We are home now and enjoying every minute of being new parents. Let the journey begin...

No baby yet...

Another doctor's visit today but no progression for this first-time mom. The doctor thinks that it will be at least my due date and he may even let me go over a week. My weight is good (lost another pound) and my blood pressure is good, so he feels like I can definitely go until the 28th or after. Every day I update everyone saying "No baby yet". Can't wait to be able to say, "We are on our way to the hospital".

Danny's office has started a pool on when Baby Daniel will arrive. My office is betting on when I will return to the office (no one is giving me longer than 4 weeks LOL). Danny bet on tomorrow, looks like the Dad doesn't even have a clue...

Anyone want to make a guess?

And the coutdown begins...

Doctor's visit went well today. He says that I am progressing like a typical (textbook example) first-time mom. Looks like it will be about 2 more weeks before Baby Kirkman arrives. Everything else looks good so we just have to wait. Stay tuned...

Just Waiting

We had our final ultrasound today. Baby Daniel is measuring at 7 lbs. 4 oz.(bigger than 72% of babies at this stage); I hope the doctor is a little off with his calculation. :) That's a big baby! He is ready to arrive according to the doctor. Everything looks good and he thinks I am ok to wait until my due date but he said that he would definitely not let me go any longer. At my next visit, if I am progressing favorably, they may allow me to go into labor or induce me at 39 weeks. He could come at any time. We are ready!!! Stay tuned...
