First Bottle

To prepare for my return to work and my travel plans in 2 weeks, we needed to see if Daniel would take a bottle. I left to go get dinner and Grandmama was in charge. Daniel wasn't sure about the bottle at first but once he knew what was in it, he did great!

Almost 5 weeks old

We are now approaching Daniel's 5th week in this world. We have had an exciting month. We have had many visitors and Daniel has enjoyed meeting everyone. He has started smiling, focusing on objects like his mobile, and he is reaching for things. Daniel had his 4 week checkup last week and he is 8 lbs. 3.5 oz. and 21.5 inches long. Here are some pictures and a video from the last few weeks.

Daniel's first stroll around the neighborhood

After the beautiful snow that we had a heat wave came through and gave Mommy and Daniel an opportunity to cruise around the neighborhood in Daniel's stroller. We loved being outside in the beautiful sunshine. Daniel and Mom were in need of some Vitamin D.

Daniel's first snow

Daniel and I enjoyed his first snow. We only spent about 30 seconds outside, just quick enough for a Daddy to take our photo, but it was beautiful.

He has arrived...

February 3, 2009 turned out to be the most important day of our lives; Baby Daniel arrived. We are so blessed to have such a precious baby boy. He weighed 7 lbs. 1.94 oz. and was 20.9 inches long. He had a head full of brown hair, a nose like his Dad, and a mouth like his mom (No, he isn't talking yet). We went to the hosital around 3:00 am and Daniel was born at 7:52 pm. Daniel had to spend a few hours in the NICU to make sure his blood sugar was ok,; I had gestational diabetes and had to be on insulin during labor. He got a great report from the NICU and was with Mom and Dad within 6 hours. We are home now and enjoying every minute of being new parents. Let the journey begin...

No baby yet...

Another doctor's visit today but no progression for this first-time mom. The doctor thinks that it will be at least my due date and he may even let me go over a week. My weight is good (lost another pound) and my blood pressure is good, so he feels like I can definitely go until the 28th or after. Every day I update everyone saying "No baby yet". Can't wait to be able to say, "We are on our way to the hospital".

Danny's office has started a pool on when Baby Daniel will arrive. My office is betting on when I will return to the office (no one is giving me longer than 4 weeks LOL). Danny bet on tomorrow, looks like the Dad doesn't even have a clue...

Anyone want to make a guess?

And the coutdown begins...

Doctor's visit went well today. He says that I am progressing like a typical (textbook example) first-time mom. Looks like it will be about 2 more weeks before Baby Kirkman arrives. Everything else looks good so we just have to wait. Stay tuned...
